FROM MOM:
Mrs. Berryman has supported my daughter for the last 2 years addressing advanced skills in Junior High ELA. Before working with Ms. Mary, my daughter was not meeting the Reading STAAR grade level expectations; since working with her, my kid has improved tremendously, and she “Mastered” her 7th-grade Reading STAAR test.
Ms. Mary is knowledgeable, caring, and patient and knows how to communicate with my teenager. She follows up, helps my kid follow through, and always communicates openly and promptly. Ms. Mary is also flexible, and she makes herself available if we need her, sometimes spending extra time if necessary. We love working with her!
FROM STUDENT:
Ms. Mary is cool and I enjoy working with her. She is fun, but she also makes me think and understand. She is patient with me. She also gives me treats and encouraging notes often.
— 7th-8th Grade Student, Junior High ELA Student
Ms. Mary is a dynamic teacher. Her vast background experience with student learning struggles in reading and math provides a unique approach. We have seen success with the LLI (Leveled Literacy Intervention) program and Do the Math. Ms. Mary’s insights have provided valuable data to intervention and 504 committees. The students are eager to work with her. We share the same integrity for learning.

Ms. Mary Berryman is a committed educator who prides herself on reaching all learners. As our reading interventionist at Brookside Intermediate, Ms. Mary implemented research-based tools (such as Leveled Literacy Intervention) and guided reading with small groups of students in 6th-8th grades. She utilized pre-assessment data to drive instructional decisions and designed lessons to meet the diverse needs of her students. She was an instrumental voice in intervention meetings, gathering frequent and consistent data, which she used to move students forward. Her rapport with students is positive, warm, and engaging. Ms. Mary’s background as an educational diagnostician allows her to target specific student deficits while building on student strengths to help each learner find success.
